Rotarian
Claire Whyman visited Ethiopia in April.
The
British charity is Vision Aid Overseas (which rotary helps support) and the
local NGO we worked with was Grarbet Tahidiso Mahber. We
spent 4 days working in the hospital in Ziway, and 6 days outreach in the
surrounding area. The main objective was to provide eye exams.
Providing glasses was really secondary as there are opticians in Ethiopia
and we don't like to be detrimental to the local economy. |
